Election and Voter Information

Information on special elections must be posted here at least 90 days in advance of the election date.

The 2022 Town of Kearny Election will be held for the purpose of electing a Mayor and three Council Members, each to a four-year term.

List names of candidates and post forms required.

Vote!

The easiest and most important way for citizens to participate in their community is to vote. Whether an election is held to choose local leaders, approve public debt, or allow the Town to enter agreements, the voice of each voter counts. Since Kearny’s population is small, a few votes can affect local decisions. By exercising your right to vote, you not only are a good citizen, but you set an example for future generations.

Campaign Finance

A candidate is required to register a committee if the candidate receives contributions or makes expenditures, in any combination, of at least $500 in connection with that candidacy. Candidates must comply with all State campaign finance laws, which establish, among other things, when a candidate is required to form a committee, how a candidate's committee must be constituted, contribution limits, and when campaign finance reports are required and their content.

An entity must register a political committee if it meets both of the following conditions:

  • the entity is organized for the primary purpose of influencing the result of an election; and
  • the entity knowingly receives contributions or makes expenditures (in any combination) in excess of the current threshold financial level.

All forms are required to be submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office at 912-C Tilbury Drive. At this time, there is no on-line program available for filing local campaign finance reports.

For more information refer to the Secretary of State Campaign Finance Candidate Guide and/or consult an attorney as Town staff cannot interpret campaign finance law.
